A season like no other… no home, no clubhouse, hardly any fans, playing in the next county over in Devon, where we were ground sharing with Plymouth Parkway who didn’t actually want us there, rumours circulating that our owners didn’t want us and problems with the kit, but the boys had an amazing season! City started the season with an unbeaten run of 16 games in the league, winning 13 and drawing three before losing to bogey side Chesham. Truro lost just once at ‘home’ to their landlords Plymouth Parkway and that was at the tail end of the season. Truro City finished 3rd to qualify for the play-offs, where they beat Poole Town on penalties in the semi-final and then faced the daunting task of visiting 2nd placed Bracknell Town in the final, Tyler Harvey – having his best season to date – scored his 28th goal of the season and 100th goal in Truro colours put Truro 1-0 up, before Bracknell clawed it back to 2-2. City dug deep and won promotion in time added on with a goal by skipper Connor Riley-Lowe. WE ARE GOING UP, SAY WE ARE GOING UP!!!
Massive thanks to manager Paul Wotton and assistant manager Stewart Yetton for sticking by the club through the tough times during the covid outbreak and achieving their goal of getting City promoted back to the National League South.
A season like no other!

Truro City manager Paul Wotton says his side’s 3-1 win at Hanwell Town displays the depth in his squad. Will Dean gave the White Tigers an 11th-minute lead before striker Tyler Harvey doubled the advantage shortly before the half-time interval. Ben Adelsbury made it 3-0 with just over 30 minutes to go as he scored on his return to the club. Hanwell pulled one back 11 minutes later as City went third in the Southern Premier Division South table. “The pleasing thing is today is we’ve got four unavailable through injury who’d be pushing to start in the team, so I’m really happy with the size of the squad and the depth,” Wotton said of Truro’s season opener. “We had a poor pre-season in as much as results and some of our performances were really poor, but it really doesn’t mean anything and come the first game of the season the boys run an extra yard and jump an extra inch. We did control the game for large periods and James Hamon hasn’t had a save to make, so it was a good day all round for us.” BBC Sport

Truro City manager Paul Wotton says his side’s fitness showed as they beat Dorchester Town 4-0 to keep up their perfect start to the new season. Andrew Neal’s 12th-minute strike gave the White Tigers a 1-0 lead which they carried into half-time. Tyler Harvey’s penalty doubled the lead five minutes after the break and he got a second six minutes later, before Neal struck again with 18 minutes left. “It was very good. It was pretty comfortable.” Wotton told BBC Cornwall. “In extreme heat I thought we handled it really well. We were a bit fitter than Dorchester and that showed, and a really good afternoon for us, everyone’s happy.” The win puts Truro joint-top of Southern League Premier South with an identical goal difference to Swindon Supermarine. The two sides, along with third-placed Metropolitan Police, are the only teams in the division to have won both their games so far this season. BBC Sport

Truro City manager Paul Wotton says his side’s defence has set the foundations for their good start to the season. Andrew Neal’s penalty in second-half stoppage time saw the White Tigers beat Gosport Borough 1-0. Unbeaten Truro have conceded just five goals in eight games and have yet to let in more than one goal in a match as they moved up to second place in Southern League Premier Division South. “Clean sheets are critical at any level of football.” Wotton told BBC Cornwall. “You’ve always got a chance at 0-0 and that proved to be the case, and it was a really good clean sheet, so that’s excellent.” Neal’s goal was his first since a brace in a 4-0 win over Dorchester Town in the second game of the season. “It wasn’t enjoyable to watch, we haven’t had a game for 10 days and I don’t think that did us any favours.” Wotton added. “We were a bit lethargic and a bit sluggish, but having said that we should have been 2-0 up at half-time with two clear chances. In the second half Gosport had all the territory and umpteen corners and putting things in our box, but we defended really well, resolute and put our bodies on the line. Our goalkeeper hasn’t had a save to make, so all in all if I’m being brutally honest, I think 0-0 was a fair result but we’ve managed to nick it at the end with a penalty.” BBC Sport

Harvey and Ollie Knowles had chances to increase Truro’s lead either side of the half time break. But Brett headed home Will Dean’s free kick in the 95th minute to get the win. The White Tigers, who are unbeaten in their opening nine matches, remain two points behind leaders Weston-Super-Mare after nine games. BBC Sport

Truro had numerous other chances to increase their tally – Dan Sullivan and Will Dean had early efforts while Harvey had a goal ruled out for offside after 29 minutes. Truro City boss Paul Wotton praised his side’s resilience as they twice came from behind to win 4-3 at Hayes and Yeading to stay top of the table. City were 2-0 down inside 20 minutes before Tyler Harvey and Dan Sullivan drew them level after half an hour. Hassan Jalloh put Hayes 3-2 up after 54 minutes, but a debut goal for Adam Porter and a Harvey penalty 12 minutes from full time sealed Truro’s victory. “It was fantastic character from the lads.” Wotton told BBC Radio Cornwall. “We actually played very, very well. That sounds strange because we conceded three goals, but the three goals we conceded were three errors from us, which we haven’t been doing this season. But we showed resilience and got back in the game twice. It’s a great day for us, we stay unbeaten, we stay top of the league and we’re enjoying every minute of it.” Truro remain a point clear of Weston-Super-Mare at the top of Southern Premier League South, having now won nine of their 12 games. Wotton says new signings have galvanised his side this season, after an eighth-placed finish in 2021-22. “There’s a different attitude around the changing room this year.” he explained. “Boys had been here for a little bit too long last year and the boys that have come in, the new signings have shown a real freshness and eagerness. There’s tremendous talent in the squad and we’ve got a big squad now, boys aren’t guaranteed to start every game, which is a great thing because complacency in football is not a nice place to be. We’re doing well at the minute and long may it continue.” BBC Sport

Harvey got his hat-trick with 13 minutes left before Matt Wright and Will Dean scored late on. Truro City manager Paul Wotton praised his side after their 2-1 win over Metropolitan Police kept them top of Southern Premier Division South. Shane White and Andrew Neal scored in the final two minutes of the first half for the Cornish side, who have now won eight league games in a row. Tom Read pulled one back for the hosts before James Hamon made two good stoppage-time saves to secure victory. The White Tigers remain a point clear of Weston-Super-Mare at the top. “Its a really big three points.” Wotton told BBC Radio Cornwall. “I thought first half we were really good value for the 2-0, the second half it was a complete role reversal and we couldn’t quite get a foot in the game, but we were dogged and resolute and saw it out until the end.” Wotton was quick to praise his side who are seven points clear of third-placed Chesham United with a game in hand after just a third of the season. “To win eight games on the trot in any league is a fantastic achievement, that’s 15 games now, 12 wins, three draws.” he added. “I’ll be flabbergasted if any of them have been on a better run than that. You have to enjoy it, it’s still very early in the season, but we’re ticking them off one by one and if you don’t enjoy winning there’s no point in playing football.” BBC Sport

Truro City remain the only unbeaten side in the top seven tiers of English football after a 3-0 win over Winchester City. Goals either side of half-time for Andrew Neal put the White Tigers in control before Dan Sullivan made the game safe 11 minutes after the break. Truro have won 13 and drawn three of their 16 games in Southern Premier Division South this season. “The players deserve all the plaudits.” said manager Paul Wotton. “We’re in a good run of form and to win 13 and draw three – and win nine on the trot – I think you have to enjoy these times in football. It’s only 16 games gone, so there’s a long way to go, but we’re doing everything right at the moment.” he told BBC Radio Cornwall. Despite their impressive form, Wotton’s side are only a point clear at the top of the table, with second-placed Weston-Super-Mare keeping up with the Cornish side. “Weston-Super-Mare are a brilliant football team,” added Wotton. “We drew 0-0 with them at home and it was a hell of a game. If you’d have won nine games on the trot you’d have expected to have accumulated a bit more of a lead than one point, but it is what it is. Weston-Super-Mare are an excellent football team and I expect them to be right there all season.” BBC Sport

Truro City manager Paul Wotton says he is proud of his side after they won 1-0 at Southern Premier South leaders Weston-Super-Mare. The victory sees second-placed Truro close the gap at the top to one point, although Weston have two games in hand. Andrew Neal gave the White Tigers the lead as he headed home four minutes before the end of the first half. Truro goalkeeper James Hamon saved a second-half penalty from Dayle Grubb as Wotton’s men held on for the win. “Weston-Super-Mare in my opinion are the best team I’ve managed against since I’ve been manager of Truro.” Wotton told BBC Radio Cornwall. “But we matched them and more, so if the lads have got that little bit of belief with them who knows what we can do. They worked themselves tremendously hard and I’m very proud of them and very proud to be Truro manager.” Former Exeter City goalkeeper Hamon kept a second successive clean sheet as Truro extended their unbeaten run to five league matches. “The penalty save seemed to re-energise us and we kicked on from that, so it was a really big moment in the game and we thank him for that.” added Wotton. “I’m not going to sit here and say it feels like any other win, because it’s been billed all week in the media as a top versus second, so we’re elated to win the game. But we don’t get four points for winning it, you don’t get any more points. It narrows the gap a little bit, if Weston had won today they would have been odds on for the title, but there’s still 17 games to go. It’s such a boring cliché, but it is game by game and we’ve got to recover and go again next week.” BBC Sport

Truro City moved back to the top of Southern Premier South after a 4-0 win over Yate Town. Andrew Neal’s 28th-minute opener and Tyler Harvey’s close-range shot just before half time put City in control. Kyle Egan’s excellent goal made it 3-0 with 20 minutes left before Dan Sullivan wrapped up the victory 10 minutes later. It’s really pleasing, three clean sheets on the trot is great because we went through a silly period of conceding some strange goals. ” Wotton added: “I always got told that clean sheets gets you promotion, so the more we get the better. The three on the trot is great, we were really untroubled today so it was a comfortable clean sheet, but all the accolades belong to the players, they’re a great bunch. Truro City boss Paul Wotton described his side’s 1-1 draw with Hartley Wintney as “two points dropped.” Matt Wright gave the White Tigers a 23rd-minute lead, but Zidan Akers levelled eight minutes later. City missed a number of chances to score as they remain second in Southern Premier South, a point off leaders Weston-Super-Mare from two extra games. “We were ridiculously dominant in the game and should have won four or five-nil,” Wotton told BBC Radio Cornwall. “We didn’t, conceded a terrible goal when we were 1-0 up and cruising and then the second half just kept knocking but couldn’t get the goal to get us the three points. It’s hugely frustrating and disappointing, but we pick ourselves up and we’ve got another game on Tuesday and we go again.” City travel to fifth-placed Poole Town knowing they could still be top had Weston not scored a stoppage-time winner at Hendon on Saturday. Wotton’s side are six points clear of third-placed Chesham United and 16 in front of Poole in the last play-off place as they aim for promotion to National League South. “We made some strange decisions in the final third and lacked a bit of quality in front of goal, but it wasn’t for a lack of effort that’s for sure,” added Wotton. “On another day you win the game comfortably, but we didn’t. The schedule’s pretty relentless at the minute, so we’ve got to recover properly and go again at Poole.” BBC Sport

Truro City suffered a dramatic 3-2 loss at Swindon Supermarine as they fell further from top place in Southern League Premier South. Harry Williams gave Swindon a fifth-minute lead before Mat Liddiard hit the City bar as Truro had two first-half penalty appeals turned down. James Harding doubled the lead on 61 minutes, but Tyler Harvey and debutant Yassine En-Neyah scored to make it 2-2. But Harding headed in a winner with 11 minutes left to win a thrilling game. Ed Palmer headed a Truro corner onto the bar four minutes from full time as City lost for the second successive game. The defeat sees second-placed Truro drop to five points behind leaders Weston-Super-Mare who also have two games in hand. BBC Sport

Truro City scored three times in the last 17 minutes to beat third-placed Chesham United 3-1. Having missed some good chances, they found themselves 1-0 down following Karl Oliyide’s 37th-minute strike. Second-placed Truro upped the pressure and were rewarded with an equaliser from Dan Sullivan in the 73rd minute. Tyler Harvey’s back-post finish four minutes later put City ahead before Sullivan poked home a third three minutes from the end. The win saw Truro open up an eight-point gap on Chesham, having played two more games in Southern Premier South. Paul Wotton’s side are two points behind leaders Weston-Super-Mare, who have three games in hand on the Cornish club. BBC Sport

Truro City needed Oliver Haste’s stoppage time goal to get the better of Hayes and Yeading. The White Tigers had the better of the first half, but went in goalless when Tyler Harvey’s 36th-minute penalty was saved after Dan Sullivan was fouled. James Hamon made a couple of good saves before Haste’s volley in the 94th minute which came either side of red cards for two Hayes players. The win keeps Truro second in the Southern Premier League South table. They remain two points off leaders Weston-Super-Mare having played three more matches. “We had one little bit of quality at the end which won us the game,” Truro boss Paul Wotton told BBC Radio Cornwall. “A clean sheet’s great, and to score late on is always a good thing. To react with two wins from the two defeats we had before that is really pleasing.” BBC Sport

Truro City boss Paul Wotton has criticised his team’s attitude after their 2-1 loss at Merthyr Town. Tyler Harvey’s goal early in the second half had cancelled out Ricardo Rees’ 36th-minute opener for the Welsh side. Frazer Thomas’ winner with 20 minutes left saw second-placed Truro’s gap to Southern Premier League South leaders Weston-Super-Mare grow to six points. “First half I thought we were as bad as we’ve been all season,” Wotton told BBC Radio Cornwall after the loss. “The disappointing thing for me was a severe lack of desire and energy and will to win. It’s very alien for our football club, so I was very disappointed with that. Second half we had a bit of a go, but overall a very disappointing day for us. We go into every game expecting to win it, but we’re not a good enough football team to turn up and play without desire and attitude and a will to win and work rate. If we don’t do that we get beaten, and that’s exactly what happened today.” BBC Sport

Truro City failed to cut the gap at the top of Southern Premier League South after losing 3-2 at Beaconsfield Town. Despite early pressure the White Tigers were 1-0 down at half-time after Nathan Minhas’ 27th-minute goal. Andrew Neal got City level 10 minutes after the break and Dan Sullivan put Truro ahead 13 minutes later as he reacted well to a blocked shot. But Elliott Buchanan’s 76th-minute header levelled it before Sam Togwell got the winner five minutes later. Second-placed Truro stay five points behind leaders Weston-Super-Mare having both played 36 matches. Third-placed Bracknell closed the gap to Truro to two points, and have two games in hand, after a 2-0 win at Yate Town. BBC Sport

Dan Sullivan’s hat-trick helped Truro City come from a goal down to win 4-1 at Harrow Borough. James Ewington’s 10th-minute goal gave the hosts the lead against the run of play as the White Tigers spurned a host of first-half chances. Sullivan levelled eight minutes after the break before getting his second from close range 10 minutes later. Andrew Neal added a 73rd-minute penalty before Sullivan completed his hat-trick a minute later with a long-range shot. The win keeps Truro second in Southern League Premier South, five points off leaders Weston-Super-Mare and two ahead of third-placed Bracknell Town, who have a game in hand. Two late Tyler Harvey goals kept Truro City in third place in Southern League Premier South as they beat Metropolitan Police 2-0 at Bolitho Park. City failed to convert a host of first-half chances as they try to ensure a top three finish. Former Plymouth Argyle forward Harvey came on 10 minutes into the second half, and 20 minutes later he bundled the ball home for a precious lead. He got a second in stoppage time after Andrew Neal’s saved shot came to him. Truro remain four points behind second-placed Bracknell Town, who they host on Monday night, with three games to play. They are nine points off leaders Weston-Super-Mare who seem all-but-assured of winning the title. BBC Sport

Ryan Brett’s late goal saw third-place Truro City beat second-place Bracknell Town in Southern League Premier South. The win in the game – which was re-arranged from last week after heavy rain at Bolitho Park – means the White Tigers are just a point behind Bracknell with two games to play. Brett’s deflected shot with 10 minutes to go sealed victory for City, who have won three of their past four games. Bracknell ended with 10 men after George Knight’s second booking late on. Both sides still have an outside chance of pipping Weston-Super-Mare to the title and automatic promotion to National League South. Bracknell are five points behind Weston, with Truro six behind, so both clubs need Weston to lose their final two games and hope they can turn around an inferior goal difference. Both sides have already secured a place in the play-offs. BBC Sport

Truro City ensured a top-three finish in Southern Premier League South with a 4-0 win over mid-table Salisbury. Wednesday’s comfortable home win also secured a home tie in the play-offs. The White Tigers impressed throughout and took the lead inside half an hour through Dan Sullivan’s tap-in, before Tyler Harvey scored soon after. Will Dean’s 52nd minute header from a corner made it 3-0, before another header from Harvey Greenslade completed the rout four minutes later. Truro are second in the table with one game left, two points clear of Bracknell Town who have a game in hand. Bracknell – who Truro beat on Monday night – face eighth-placed Metropolitan Police on Thursday before returning to Bolitho Park to meet Truro’s landlords Plymouth Parkway. City, six points behind champions Weston-Super-Mare, travel to second-from-bottom North Leigh in their final league game on Saturday. BBC Sport

Truro City ended the Southern League Premier South season in third with a 2-1 win at relegated North Leigh. The win means Truro will host Poole Town in their play-off semi-final on Wednesday as they bid for promotion to National League South. Andrew Neal’s second-minute header sent Truro on their way before having a second goal ruled out for offside. Conor McDonagh equalised after 27 minutes, but Dan Sullivan got his 14th goal of the season to win it. The former Torquay United youngster fired into the bottom corner after 49 minutes having seen City spurn a number of chances. Truro end the season on 89 points, one point behind second-placed Bracknell Town and four off champions Weston-Super-Mare. BBC Sport

James Hamon saved two spot-kicks as Truro City beat Poole Town 4-1 on penalties to make the Southern Premier League South play-off final. The semi-final between the league’s third and fourth-placed sides had ended 1-1 after extra time at Bolitho Park. Tony Lee headed Poole in front after 50 minutes, but Tyler Harvey levelled 14 minutes later from the edge of the box. Both sides had chances to win the tie in extra time with Harvey hitting the post for Truro in the 103rd minute. Harvey and Harry Hutchinson scored both sides’ opening penalties before Will Dean put Truro 2-1 up. But Guernsey-born Hamon saved from Marcus Daws and Luke Pardoe as Harvey Greenslade scored from the spot to put Truro 3-1 up before Dan Sullivan converted the winner. City will travel to face second-placed Bracknell Town – who beat fifth-placed Chesham United 1-0 after extra time – for a place in National League South on Monday. “There was nothing between the teams really and you could see that again tonight.” Truro manager Paul Wotton told BBC Radio Cornwall. “It was a real hard-fought game and fortunately we’ve come out on the right side of the penalty shootout. We’re thrilled and we’re happy, and before the night there’s only one objective in the play-off semi-final and that’s to make sure you’re still in with a chance of promotion at the end of the night and we’ve achieved that. Massive credit to all the boys, the staff and the club, and we’ve got a hell of a game on our hands on Monday away to Bracknell.” Wotton says he always had faith in Hamon – who has been a fixture at Truro since leaving Exeter City for the Cornish club in 2019. “I always fancy James Hamon with penalty saves.” Wotton added. “He’s a big presence and we had a little huddle before and I chose the penalty takers and I said, ‘Lads, I’m telling you, he’ll save two penalties’, and fortunately he did for us. I’m absolutely over the moon and our dream is still alive.” BBC Sport

Connor Riley-Lowe’s stoppage-time goal saw Truro City beat Bracknell Town 3-2 to win the Southern League Premier South play-offs and gain promotion to National League South. The former Exeter City player scored in the fifth minute of added time. It ensured City returned to the sixth tier for the first time in four years. The White Tigers had twice been pegged back by Bracknell, who finished the season a point above Truro in second place in the table. Truro made the final after beating Poole Town 4-1 on penalties on Wednesday while Bracknell needed extra time to beat Chesham United in their semi-final. Tyler Harvey headed against the post before putting the Cornish side ahead on the stroke of half-time with a powerful effort into the top corner. Darryl Sanders’ penalty levelled the scores before Andrew Neal put City 2-1 up from close range after 58 minutes. Gary Abisogun’s acrobatic effort four minutes later made it 2-2, and Bracknell had two great chances to score in the final 10 minutes before Truro skipper Riley-Lowe struck the winner. It was the third time this season Truro have beaten Bracknell including a 1-0 win when the two sides met a fortnight ago at Bolitho Park. “Without a shadow of doubt it’s the proudest moment in my career.” Truro City manager Paul Wotton told BBC Radio Cornwall. “I’ve had some really special moments, and I class myself very, very fortunate to be managing this group of players – they’ve been absolutely outstanding and they deserve all the accolades, they deserve everything they’ve got. Everyone wrote us off today, everything was against us – the bus broke down on the way, we turned up late – but we don’t moan, we get on with it, they grind it out.” BBC Sport
