Truro City has confirmed that Steve Thompson will no longer continue as manager of the club. After just 18 games in charge, a club statement confirms: “It has been agreed by mutual consent Steve will no longer continue in his role.” The statement said: “The club would like to thank Steve for all of his efforts on behalf of Truro City and wishes him every success in the future.” Until a new appointment, Lee Hodges will be taking over first-team duties. Thompson, who was the former boss of Yeovil Town, took over the Tigers from Sean McCarthy, who also left the club by mutual consent at the beginning of December. The revolving doors at Truro City continue to turn after the club confirmed secretary Ian Annear is the latest official to leave Treyew Road. In a statement, chairman Kevin Heaney said: “Ian has been a great servant to the club throughout the years, and we all wish him the very best.” Annear is the fourth club official to depart this season. Sean McCarthy, who managed City to promotion to the Southern Premier League last season, left in December. His successor, former Yeovil Town boss Steve Thompson, also left the club after just 18 games on 29 March. Vice chairman Chris Webb walked out on the club just a few months into the season, claiming he wanted to spend more time with his family. The Tigers have achieved four successive promotions, but Mr Heaney, a London property developer who acquired the club in 2004, is a controversial figure. One of his companies, Cornish Homes (UK) Ltd, went into voluntary liquidation in 2008, owing 166 companies and individuals a total of £4.8m. BBC Sport

Truro City boss Lee Hodges was upbeat despite his side’s opening day 2-1 defeat at Billericay Town in the Blue Square Bet South. Chris Wild gave the home side a 27th minute lead, but his own goal drew the sides level just after half-time. But a last-minute goal from Sam Lechmere sealed the win for Billericay. “I thought they were outstanding when you look at what’s happened pre-season and to come here with just 13 players,” Hodges told BBC Radio Cornwall. “Defending has cost us in the end and that’s frustrating really because the boys have worked their socks off in blistering heat.” City went to the match with a depleted squad after a summer of financial problems off the field, and Hodges says with that in mind he could not have asked for anything more from his side. He added: “I think we’re still two or three weeks behind everyone else in our league and I felt we dominated the game other than their two goals.” BBC Sport
