The Western League Cup is a knock-out cup competition organised by the Western Football League. In 1988 the Western League took the decision to re-name their league cup after former Chairman of the league and so it became known as the Les Phillips Cup.

Truro City will now have to focus on winning the Western League after losing 3-2 at Brislington in the Les Phillips Cup on Saturday. The Cornish side were 3-0 down at half time but rallied late on with penalties from Stewart Yetton and Kevin Wills. “Full credit to the lads, they never threw the towel in and we really pushed them all the way,” assistant manager Glynn Hooper told BBC Radio Cornwall. “It’s really disappointing to go out of another cup competition,” he added. Truro were knocked out of the FA Vase earlier this month by Whitley Bay and now have just the league to concentrate on. They are currently five points clear of second-placed Corsham Town with a game in hand. BBC Sport
Brislington fielded an ineligible player and were eliminated from the competition, this result was null and void, so the result and scorers did not count but Truro progressed to the Semi-Final
